With the COVID-19 pandemic, the Church needs to adjust and follow the protocols the government of every country has to implement. Though we cannot receive Him in the Eucharist sacramentally, we can still accept Him spiritually through an Act of Spiritual Communion.
What is a Spiritual Communion?
Spiritual Communion is a Catholic practice of desiring communion with God. It is prayed when one cannot receive Him in the Eucharist in special circumstances.
Many saints support Spiritual Communion. It is used way back when Christians were under persecution or if there were plagues.
Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.
